Sex and the City is a bleak taxonomy of the various sub-species of Manhattan's rich, well-connected, attractive, and single people. There are the toxic bachelors, who will never commit, the modelizers, who sleep only with models, and countless other groups. Strangely (considering the title), this book is not particularly explicit. I also found it odd that Bushnell's main message seems to be that the ultimate achievement for these high-society women is to get married. Although Sex and the City is sometimes interesting and sometimes funny, if there's a reason that it's worth reading, it's because it vividly demonstrates that money, power, and looks don't guarantee happiness. |
